Location
Nestled on the edge of the city and bordered by the Grand River, the Kiwanis Park neighbourhood is a prestigious and desirable area in Waterloo. Depending on the street, you might find yourself in either Kitchener or Waterloo, as the city boundary runs through this charming community. Originally a rural area with modest homes on large lots, Kiwanis Park underwent significant development in the mid-2000s.
Amenities
Today, it features a blend of original homes, expansive two-story family residences, townhomes, and luxurious estates. The neighborhood boasts beautifully landscaped yards, vintage-style street lights, and wide roads, reflecting a community that takes great pride in its surroundings. Kiwanis Park is the centrepiece of this family-friendly neighbourhood. Its lake-like swimming pool is a major attraction, but the park also offers walking and biking trails along the Walter Bean Trail, a leash-free dog park, and a well-equipped playground. For outdoor activities, there are sand courts for beach volleyball and soccer, numerous picnic shelters, and canoe launches for exploring the Grand River.
In winter, residents can enjoy skating on the outdoor ice rink or cross-country skiing through the park. With three additional neighbourhood parks, Kiwanis Park is perfect for those who love the outdoors. Though Kiwanis Park doesn’t have a public school within its boundaries, local students attend Lexington or Bridgeport for grades JK-6, then move on to Margaret Avenue for grades 7-8, and finally to Bluevale for high school. Catholic students will attend St. Matthew for JK-8 before advancing to St. David.
