The warm weather is finally here and that means one thing, it's BBQ season! There’s nothing better than gathering your favourite people in the backyard for good food and a great time around the grill.

If you’re thinking about hosting here’s your friendly reminder it does not need to be fancy or complicated to be fun!

Here’s a list of some ideas and things to consider to help you start planning a fun afternoon or evening with great people and great food!

Start with the Invite

Send out a group message or a fun e-invite to let everyone know what’s happening. If you want to make it feel a bit more festive, try a free e-card that lets you track RSVPs and adds some personality. It’s a fun way to kick things off and get people looking forward to the day.

Pick Your BBQ Style

Hosting a BBQ is all about making it your own. If you like to keep things easy, make it it into a potluck and have everyone bring a dish, snack, or drink to share.

People usually love contributing, it adds variety and gives you more time to relax and enjoy hanging out with your guests.

If you love cooking, this is your time to shine! Fire up the grill and go all out with burgers, skewers, corn on the cob, and maybe even a surprise dessert from the grill. Don't forget to enjoy your food!

You Don’t Need to Buy a Ton

Use what you already have, throwing a great BBQ doesn’t mean spending a fortune! A few string lights or some fun paper plates can do the trick. If you want to add a little extra, citronella candles or some comfy lawn chairs make the space even more welcoming.

Plan a Few Easy Activities

Have some easy activities ready! For the kids, stuff like sidewalk chalk, bubbles or a sprinkler. For the grown-ups, just some music, cards, comfy chairs, and maybe a fun game or two if people feel like it.

No need to plan too much, but a few simple activities can make the day even more memorable!

Don’t Forget to Enjoy It Too

There is nothing better than spending out outside with great company, so don't forget to enjoy the day! You can sit down, eat while the food is still hot, and laugh with your guests. Cut yourself some slack, and use what you already have because there is no need to spend a lot to make it special.

At the end of the day a backyard BBQ is all about connection, sharing stories, eating outside, and enjoying those summer moments we look forward to all year. So whether you are grilling like a pro or just asking someone to bring the ketchup, go for it! Fire up the grill, and have some fun. You have earned it!

And maybe the best part is that you are doing it all in your own space. That is what makes home so valuable, not just the walls and roof but the people who gather there. Whether it is a crowd around the grill or just a few close friends on the deck, the memories you make at home are the ones that stick.
